We encourage families to have a tour of Annie Dennis when making a decision to apply for a childcare or kindergarten place through the City of Darebin’s centralised waiting list.
Our aim in conducting tours is to
- give families an insight of how the Centre operates
- explain what we offer and how the educators develop our programs
- assist families with any inquiries and offer them guidelines when touring other centres
- provide an explanation of how the centralised waiting list works
During the tour we take prospective families through all the children’s rooms so that they can observe first-hand the child-staff interactions, routines and child-focused environments.
Families can contact the Centre office to arrange a tour by appointment. Generally appointments are made during these times
- 9.30am-11am (Wednesday – Friday)
- 2.30pm-4pm (Wednesday – Friday)
During the tour we discuss
- the centralised waiting list
- Centre hours of operation
- philosophy and mission of the Centre
- parent involvement
- orientation process
- Committee of Management
- early childhood educators’ qualifications
- early childhood educator-to-child ratios
- how Early Childhood Educators cater for children’s individual needs and learning opportunities
- Centre menu
- fee structure
- Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate
We acknowledge that individual families’ needs vary and we encourage families to visit a variety of early childhood settings to enable them to see the diversity on offer, and therefore make an informed decision about their child’s care and education.
