Role of the Committee of Management
As Annie Dennis Children’s Centre is a community-run childcare centre, it is governed by a Committee of Management comprised of parents of children at the Centre. The Committee of Management is responsible for the overall governance of the Centre and operates under a constitution. The Committee makes decisions about policy, employs staff, plans and manages the finances, and ensures that the Centre complies with council, State and Federal regulatory frameworks. These decisions are made in collaboration with the Centre Director. The Centre is an incorporated association and as such is subject to the Associations Incorporated Act 1981. Joining the Committee of Management
Parents are encouraged to join the Committee of Management. It is a great opportunity to meet other parents, get to know the staff and to be involved in an active and enthusiastic community. The Centre’s AGM, held in November, is when reports from the executive and sub-committees are given, retiring members are acknowledged and new committee members are elected. Anyone interested in joining the committee can talk to Lara or a committee member, or come to the next committee meeting. Nomination forms for positions on the committee are made available in the foyer before the AGM.
Those who want to become involved, but do not want to be on the committee should consider joining a subcommittee such as for the Environment, Website, Staffing or Policy. All parents are welcome at committee meetings. The committee usually meets at 7.30pm on the third Monday of each month.
