Meals

The centre is proud to have its own kitchen and cook. In 2007, the centre participated in the Start Right Eat Right award scheme faciliated by the Lady Gowrie Child Centre. The award scheme recognises best practice in nutrition and food service in long day care centres.

A tasty, nutritious lunch is provided for all children in child care. The centre has a six-week seasonal rotating menu which is reviewed annually. The children are also given a nutritious snack in the morning and afternoon. Milk is served with morning and afternoon tea, and water is available all day.

Each week’s menu is posted at the entrance to the centre. Children’s dietary needs are taken into account as much as possible; vegetarian meals can be provided. Click to view a sample menu or download some of the recipes from the Annie Dennis Kitchen (PDF, 77 KB).

The centre aims to provide nut-free food products and packaging in the children’s environments. The centre has a detailed Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Policy (PDF, 65 KB).
