A reminder to all those who have taken up the Chocolate Drive challenge:

Please return all monies raised to Lara or Anna at the Centre by this Wednesday 18 March 2009.

And thanks you for participating in our first fundraising effort of the year. All proceeds from the Chocolate Drive will be going to kindergartens affected by the bushfires.

The Victorian bushfires have had a devastating effect on so many people and their communities. We all know of, or have heard of, someone who has lost their loved ones,  homes or communities.

We are registered with the Department of Education to assist in any way we can. Our first fundraiser for the year is a chocolate drive and raffle, and all funds raised will be used to purchase materials and resources for kindergartens and childcare centres that have been affected by the fires.

You can make a big difference to the amount of help we are able to give these children and their families and communities.

Please help us sell these delicious treats to friends and colleagues. Simply take a box or a bag, and write your name and contact details on the form on the table. All money raised should be returned to the Centre by Wednesday 18 March.

Easter  Hamper Raffle

Watch out for the Easter Hamper Raffle in the foyer in the next few days. Books of 10 tickets (which are only 50 cents each!) will also be put in each family’s pocket. Drop off the money raised, with the ticket stubs, at the office. And of course you can pick up more tickets if you need to. The raffle will be drawn at the Welcome Night on Friday 13 March.

Thanks to all the families and staff who contributed their family’s favourite recipe earlier in the year.

We have collated them into a lovely spiral-bound recipe book, which is currently at the printers, and due for delivery at the Centre on Wednesday 17 December.

Look out for your a copy in your child’s pocket, or pick up one in the foyer.

Lots of the recipes are suitable for doing with the children, plus each recipe has a story about why it’s so special.

It’s not too late to whip up a home-made scarf or two to ward off the winter chill, and why not enjoy some company (and tips) while you do? All knitters and crocheters are invited to the next meeting of the Annie Dennis (and Others) Knitting Group at 8pm on Monday 28 July at Jo Stewart’s house, on the corner of Bastings and Waterloo Streets. All knitters of any talent are invited to attend the Annie Dennis (and others) Knitting Group session at 8pm on Monday 12 May at 81 James Street, Northcote. We also accept crocheters – but only if they bring cake. We are planning a knitting project to raise money for our partner Kindergarten and Early Years School in East Timor.
