Just a quick reminder to all parents that the monthly Committee of Management meeting will be held next Monday 30 August at 7.30pm.  

This is a great chance to have input into your community childcare centre.

If you’d like more information about the Committee, please pop into the office for a chat. 

Parents and guardians are invited to a General Meeting called by the Committee of Management for Monday 26 July 2010 at 7pm, to be held at the Centre. There will be one item on the agenda:

•  A Special Resolution to amend our Constitution

The Committee of Management has agreed to propose a Special Resolution to amend the Annie Dennis Children’s Centre Constitution as follows:

• Annie Dennis Children’s Centre will ask and get written consent from parents or guardians of children attending Annie Dennis Children’s Centre to become members of the Association. Other eligible persons must apply in writing to the Committee for membership.

The Associations Incorporation Act 1981 requires that a Special Resolution be put to the vote at a General Meeting to which all members of our Association (i.e. all parents and guardians) have been invited.

Our monthly meeting (for July) will be held directly following the General Meeting on the same evening, and all parents and guardians are welcome to attend. If you have any questions about the amendment or the meetings, please contact the Committee via the office.

•  Retiring Committee Members be eligible to be on the Committee of Management for four years instead of the current three years

All parents and staff are welcome to come along to the first Committee of management meeting for 2010.We are looking forward to a great year for the centre with many new faces and fresh ideas on the COM team. Attending the meeting is a great opportunity to provide your input and get up to speed with what lies ahead for the centre this year.The meeting will be held at 7:30pm, upstairs in the centre.

All parents and staff are welcome to come along to the final COM meeting for 2009.

The last meeting for the year is traditionally a hand-over from the 2009 committee to the new committee for 2010. So if you’d like to get up to speed on what lies ahead for the Centre, then this is your chance to do so.

This month’s meeting should be shorter than usual, and after the serious side is done with, we’ll be heading off to the pub for a quick drink to celebrate the end of the year.

The meeting starts at 7.30pm, upstairs at the Centre.

Note that the Information Night will be held on Monday 9 November at 7.30pm, and not 10 November as per our earlier post.

Remember that coming to the Information Night doesn’t mean you are obliged to join up. It’s just a fun way to find out more about the Centre and how it operates.

Annie Dennis Children’s Centre is a council-owned, community-run childcare centre. So what does this mean for you as a parent? Your involvement is vital.

The Centre is governed by a Committee of Management comprised of parents, and, operating under a constitution, is responsible for the overall governance of the Centre. The Committee makes decisions about policy, employs staff, plans and manages the finances, and ensures that the Centre complies with council, state and federal regulatory frameworks. Decisions are made in collaboration with the Director.

Being a Committee member is a great opportunity to meet other parents, get to know the staff and to be involved in an active and enthusiastic community.

Come along next Monday 10 November at 7.30pm (till about 9pm) to find out more about joining the Committee. Guest speakers from Darebin Council and Community Childcare Association will be making short presentations. Wine and cheese will be served.

The next Committee of Management meeting starts at 7.30pm, Wednesday 20 May, upstairs at the Centre.

The Committee is currently seeking new general members. In this voluntary role, you can make an important contribution to ADCC, which is a community-run childcare centre.

Joining up as a general member is an easy way to find out more about what happens at meetings, and whether there’s a particular subcommittee, position or project you might be interested in becoming more involved with.
